Today I talk about a little secret venue hidden behind Byres Road,
if you know about it then I may be the only one that hasn’t found out about it till
recently (I do tend to hide my head in the sand).
Today’s venue is the Bothy, a Scottish themed restaurant
located near Byres Road. The Bothy
also have another brand located in Perth if you fancy a nice drive for lunch or
dinner.
The Bothy
is a unique restaurant (we know I like them) serving their own style and twist
on Scottish cooking. The venue hosts an extremely relaxed and snug environment
making it very easy for customers to relax in comfort and enjoy their dinner. I
use the word “snug” because when I think of the word “snug” I think of a cosy
location that’s welcoming with lots of warmth where a consumer can curl up and
relax. “Snug” is the perfect adjective to use to describe the Bothy, it provides a comfortable and
warm environment. It is very welcoming and hosts’ lots of sofa/ couch type
furniture allowing customers to relax with friends and enjoy food and drinks. Ironically
the Bothy entertains their private
dining functions in a room called the “snug”.
I wasn’t even aware this little gem existed. Mr
Sk took me here on one of our first dates. We had been out the night before and
were very hungover and the food served was exactly what my hangover needed:
good, stodgy home made cooked food. We were sat at a table situated in the
corner provided with two big cosy armchairs.

The menu offered is delicious. It is true
homemade Scottish delicacies yet with their own twist added to the recipes. We
both had the home- made chicken liver parfait (otherwise known as pate to you
and me) followed by what is known as “The Bothy Burger”. The infamous burger,
which is made from steak and haggis, combined, assisted with a side of fries.
Obviously we weren’t to miss out on pudding (my favourite meal of the day)
rounding off my dinner with a scrumptious dark chocolate and peanut butter
crème brûlée. Yum! It sorted my hangover right out.

The Bothy
is a beautiful restaurant that I would visit for special occasions. It hosts a
lovely location with the brand presented very well. The staff even don kilts as
part of their uniform adding to the Scottish theme. Our dinner was served hot
and freshly cooked; the staff were friendly and helpful. We were very happy
with the service provided to us, I would recommend the Bothy to anyone. The prices are set a
touch higher compared to other restaurants nearby but with the overall
experience of the restaurant you would be expected to pay a slightly higher
price, especially for a treat night out.
