Treat Time at Big Licks
During the busy period of semester time at university
my time is split between studying, working and trying to fit in a social life
(which usually doesn’t happen). Being a mature student is manic! I’m not
complaining about my lifestyle as I chose this for myself and I only have
myself to blame but it can be crazy at times. In previous blogs I have
mentioned Mr Sk and I are saving for a mortgage so I don’t allow myself to go
out and party that much plus the older you get the hangovers get worse (they
last for days).

This week we decided to try a different place in
Glasgow for treat time. We took ourselves along Argyle Street to another ice
cream parlour to see how they compared against Crollas. It also gave us a
change of scenery and a wee jaunt down the other side of town.

BigLicks is located at 1185, Argyle Street. Now Crollas’ location is busy and
hard for parking but the parking outside BigLicks is even worse, the allocated parking outside the shop is totally
restricted. It’s part of a bus lane resulting in cars automatically getting
charged and fined. This gave us a challenge before we even got out the car. The
store is dimly lit so we wouldn’t have known if the store was open if it hadn’t
been for the “open” sign hanging on the door. BigLicks is quite small compared to Crollas but certainly rivals the brand
with the amount of ice cream flavours offered. On top of this BigLicks offers various sweet options to customers such as waffles and ice
cream sundaes.
My friend and I both chose the cookie dough option. We
were given two large milk chocolate cookies warmed up with two scoops of ice
cream on top- delicious! (no wonder I’ve joined slimming world this week, ill
be huge by the time I graduate if I keep eating unhealthy food). Unfortunately we weren’t able to eat inside
due to having to get back the car however the food prices are very cheap. It
was almost half the price we normally pay at Crollas.
BigLicks is definitely worth a visit. Aside from the awkward parking
restrictions the parlour was really nice, nice atmosphere and very welcoming
and who can complain about good prices.
