The Duck Bay at Loch Lomond

Ah the Duck Bay! You only have to mention the name of the venue and I already want to go out for lunch or dinner. I absolutely love the place, it’s one of my favourite all time places to eat.  I simply love it- I cannot fault it.

From the way the brand presents itself to the food they serve, it is just beautiful. No wonder the place is stowed out with weddings every year- it’s a beautiful location, especially with the adjacent beach to the hotel, perfect for the photographs.

The Duck Bay holds many memories for me. Mum and dad have been taking me there for years for special occasions but it was where Mr Sk and I had our first date. It was at that stage of a new couple getting together where you’re not sure if its casual or serious or even if it’s going to go somewhere.  A couple of years back Mr Sk and I had decided to go for a drive, which took us to the Duck Bay. Now the Duck Bay Marina is not only a highly rated restaurant for its service and food but the location is just beautiful. The venue hosts stereotypical beautiful Scottish scenery along side Loch Lomond. We had decided to go for a drive one day and get out of Glasgow ending up at the beautiful Duck Bay. Being out of Glasgow meant we could be ourselves without anybody knowing what was happening with us or on the off chance of being seen together. It was perfect place to go away for a nice drive and have some lunch. We walked into the restaurant and bumped into work colleagues (could only happen to me) but from that day on the Duck Bay has became one of our favourite restaurants with us to which we often go back for a date night.

The Duck Bay Marina has a hotel adjoined to it with a beach adjacent to it, perfect for weddings and special occasions. The hotel was originally founded in 1985 by Bobby and Margaret Cawley and is now ran by their children who have extended the business now called “Cawley Hotels” by adding three more hotels across Scotland, tells the Duck Bay

The location of the Duck Bay is beautiful, set on the banks of Loch Lomond allowing guests to have the choice of eating inside or outside of the restaurant. During the summer a visit to the venue is extra special allowing guests to sit outside in the sun and enjoy walks along the beach. Features like this simply make the visit extra special and enjoyable. The Duck Bay also provides an outside stall during the summer allowing visitors to enjoy snacks, coffee and ice cream outside. The location is picturesque, simply beautiful; a mere moment of peace and calm can be enjoyed whilst at the Duck Bay. Even when it is raining badly the Duck Bay is still a pretty place to visit.

The food served at the Duck Bay is homemade and so tasty. I keep telling myself to try something new every time I go back but I keep having the scampi and chips. Nothing tastes better than fresh Scottish seafood with homemade chunky chips, and a couple of cocktails to follow making the perfect date night.
