Coias Cafe In Duke Street, Glasgow

It was a friend that introduced me to Coias years ago. It started off as an Italian themed café and was later converted into a restaurant.

Coias is located at 477 Duke Street, Glasgow, G31 1RD right at the end of town. Coias originally opened in 1928 as a café and has racked up an impressionable image, becoming well known throughout Glasgow and the west of Scotland. It was taken to the next level in the 1950’s by increasing the menu. 2006 saw the organisation extend to premises next door and go through a massive refurbishment to include take-away and deli features. The restaurant also offers an alcohol license allowing consumers to enjoy a glass of wine with their dinner.

I originally went to go to Coias to cure my hangovers. If you like stodgy food, this is right up your street, as this won’t be on any approved list of Slimming World. Coias is my go to place for when I’m looking for comfort food or for when we go out for a date night. Coias provides that environment that you want to feel like you are out for a nice night, like to get dressed up for it yet the location isn’t that far to travel to. Coias is also a unique place in Glasgow, which I adore even more. I have a major passion for unique branded establishments, I like how the brand stands out and caters to the market in a different style compared to opposing brands.

As well as being an Italian themed establishment, Coias is mixed up with a chip shop theme. For me, there is nothing better than having chip chop style chips doused in salt & vinegar. Yum!!!!! In addition to hot food, the venue offers really tasty dessert dishes including the infamous Coias ice cream for which it became famous for when the cafe originally opened.

Parking is difficult around the venue but if you persist with it a space can be found. The venue itself is quite big and always busy. From visiting the restaurant a few times you can tell when looking around the venue most of the consumers are loyal consumers. This shows the venue must be doing something right for the restaurant to be busy continuously and for consumers to keep going back.
