The Only Way is Sheesh

Not a lot of people up north especially near Scotland will have heard of Sheesh, the Turkish restaurant located in Chigwell near Essex, England and that is my primary reason for discussing it in tonight’s blog. Other reasons include that the restaurant is also my favourite place to go out for dinner plus the food on offer is absolutely delicious (my mouth is watering just thinking about the dessert menu). I never thought I would get to visit this place once with living in Scotland but I’ve been privileged to visit Sheesh twice and I absolutely love it and cannot fault it at all.

Mr Sk and I don’t live together (currently saving for a mortgage deposit) so we are that bit fortunate to not have to pay a mortgage and be able to treat ourselves now and then so throughout my blog you will be reading about visits, trips and holidays.

Ed Sheeran announced his last tour for July last year before he was taking a break from music and I was going to make sure I had tickets for it no matter what. Sadly he wasn’t touring in Scotland but by luck we managed to purchase tickets for his Wembley date to which Mr Sk and I decided to make a jaunt out of it and pack in as much adventures and treats as possible.  This meant a trip to Sheesh.

Sheesh Restaurant
Everybody on Twitter within certain social circles highly rates the place and recommends it. I didn’t know anything about it to begin with, it was a complete mystery and I was beginning to tell myself there was no chance I was ever going to get to eat there.

One thing I haven’t mentioned about Sheesh, is that the clientele of the restaurant is very high end; the place itself has a very well known owner (rumour has it Lord Sugar is the owner) making the eatery that bit more exclusive. I’ve got to admit I was quite nervous going to Sheesh for the first time, excited also but I didn’t know what to expect and was petrified in case we ran up a huge bill.

Upstairs In The Cocktail Bar.
It turned out we were worrying about nothing- Sheesh was beautiful! From the location to the décor to the food served it was the best night I’ve had. As much as Mr Sk and I dine out and go away a lot there was no place that could match Sheesh. The way the restaurant presents itself is completely different to other organisations. Through marketing we are always taught about how to present the brand against competitors and make sure we have the competing edge. Sheesh, definitely has this…and more!

The building of Sheesh is very unique, it dates back to the days of 1547 and is the second oldest public house in England according to Sheesh. For a first time visitor like myself you might not realise the building is right in front of you. We drove past it twice before we realised it was in front of us. The venue is quietly hidden away and very private- perfect for well known faces to eat in comfort and away from the media’s eye. Sheesh tells us entrepreneur Dylan Hunt refurbished the building and made it look like what it does today. Honestly, ladies and gentlemen you will not understand the beauty of this venue until you have seen it with your own eyes.
Dinner Is Served.
After what felt like sneaking into a stranger’s back garden we walked through the front door and attended to immediately. From having our jackets taken to having immediate service throughout the whole night the establishment is first class. No matter whether it’s the next course to be delivered or time for more refreshments the service is immaculate- I certainly haven’t been attended to like that anywhere else.

The food is served in a Turkish style cuisine and no matter the meat chosen it is served fresh and cooked on charcoals in front of the guests. I had the chicken legs both times I visited Sheesh accompanied by baby noodles and vegetables/ salad. For dessert we were spoilt for choice to which I chose the bread & butter pudding both times- it is absolutely delish! (If only the restaurant was nearer to where I stay, I would visit weekly.) Not once throughout the night did I feel out of place, my other half and I both felt very welcomed and attended to and what I thought would’ve been a high bill from drinks, starters, mains and desserts we didn’t pay anything different to what we would’ve paid back home.
Best Part Of The Night: Dessert!
Our plans that night included hitting a few clubs afterwards however we ended upstairs at the bar having drinks and cocktails and danced the night away. Sheesh host various entertainment nights upstairs in the cocktail bar (details on the Sheesh website). Dress code on certain nights of the week may be stricter compared to other nights.

Mr Sk and I were lucky to grab a week away to London in December just before Christmas arrived. We flew down for a few days to see Winter Wonderland and of course we did not miss out on the chance to visit our beloved Sheesh restaurant although this time we decided to go for lunch and commute via train due to flight times going home. Again we were provided first class service, beautiful food and an amazing experience.

Sheesh is a beautiful restaurant. Amazing service, fresh and excellent food provided in a beautiful location. The place holds such an exquisite and exclusive existence. There are also a few secret treats hidden inside the Sheesh venue which makes the visit that extra special…depending what day you are in you might just happen to dine along side a well known face (for those TOWIE lovers the restaurant is located near the town of where it is often filmed) or even get the privilege to see the owner if he’s in town. Both times we have dined at Sheesh we have been very fortunate to not only see the owner but to dine beside a few familiar faces plus you may even get the chance to meet the host of Sheesh who is Rochelle Woods otherwise known as Roc Woods. She is the little gem of the venue and provides an excellent night of music and entertainment for guests.
